Fr. Daniel McMullin will be the director of our community beginning August 15
Fr. Dan first joined Cornell Catholic as director in 2005 and served until 2012. In 2012, he accepted the role of Associate Director of Cornell United Religious Work and in 2017 was promoted to Associate Dean of Students for Spirituality and Meaning Making. At the invitation of the Bishop of Rochester, and after prayerful discernment, Fr. Dan joyfully accepted reappointment as director of the Cornell Catholic Community.
Summer Small Groups
Our last summer Bible Study will be tomorrow, Aug 8th, and our last saints group meeting will be next Tuesday, Aug 13th. Email Abrey (aaf87) with any questions.
In a little over two weeks the new students will be arriving for our First Year Student Retreat. Please keep these students and those leading the retreat in your prayers, as well as all students who will be entering their first year at Cornell. May they be kept close to God and grow in faith.
Today we remember St. Cajetan and St. Sixtus II and his companions.
St. Cajetan was a priest and religious reformer. He founded a hospital, was devoted to caring for the sick and poor, and along with his friends wanted to revive the Church by a greater spirit of zeal in the clergy. Read more
St. Sixtus II was a pope and is a martyr, along with his companions. In 257 the emperor Valerian made a decree forbidding Christians to hold assemblies. Pope Sixtus, who was pope for one year at the time, was murdered while presiding at the Eucharist in a cave. He and four deacons were seized and beheaded (it is likely others were too). Read more
