Overview of Fr. Dan's updates included in the video:
We are very much looking forward to the beginning of the new academic year and sharing our Catholic faith with you through prayer and programming -whether in person or remotely.
Our work is guided by both the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester and the university’s Office of Spirituality and Meaning Making. We adhere to ALL regulations set in place by both organizations as well as by the State of New York.
Here are a few new things you might need to know:
- Because of prudent university restrictions, we do not have access, at the present time, to Sage Chapel or to our offices in Anabel Taylor Hall. We will not be able to provide meeting space in the Redlin Room for group meetings, or individual face-to-face meetings. Perhaps most disappointing of all, there will not be any public celebrations of the Mass or other Sacraments. As in most dioceses, however, our bishop has removed the obligation of attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation during this pandemic.
- In an effort to “keep holy the Lord’s Day” the campus ministry team is developing a weekly, two-part virtual program that will begin this on Saturday evening, August 29th. More details will appear on our website.
- Our Campus Minister for Service and Social Justice, Pat Gillick, will leave the Cornell Catholic Community on August 5th. We will not be able to provide a grand farewell for him but I’d encourage you to send him your thoughts and well wishes as he pursues new opportunities.
If you have any further questions feel free to email me at dtm33@cornell.edu. We continue to remember you in our prayers and hope we are in yours. Stay well and see you soon.
